Today I was pretty much gearing up to take the kids to Great Adventure. I got everything prepared and then realized that they are closed. Six Flags Great Adventure only opens on the weekends now through November.
We were disappointed, but it gave me a chance to go to the shoe store to buy Liam's new school shoes and some socks.
Afterwards, I took them to Long Bridge Park for a walk and to play in the playground. It was a super bright, sunny day, and hot to boot. We hid in the shade to have our small lunch: apple juice and peanut butter/jelly sandwiches. We didn't stay long in the playground as the sun was really beating down on us. The park doesn't have shade trees in the playground area so the kids are fully exposed to the sun's harmful rays.
We got home at around 3, I started cooking dinner. We had spare ribs on the grill with yellow rice with pigeon beans.
DH surprised us by taking us to a baseball game. We saw the Trenton Thunders vs. The Portland Sea Dogs. Our team won! Liam and Kaylie were super excited because we walked away with 5 baseballs. As we were walking in, a man gave Liam a baseball. Then, during the game, 3 foul balls landed in our area so the attendants grabbed them and gave them to Liam. Lastly, there was another man with a bag full of baseballs on his way out of the park and decided to give Liam a ball. Talk about lucky! The game began at 6:05 and ended at 9:00. We got home at 9:40 and got the kids ready for bed.
They helped me to get their school clothes ready for tomorrow. With that out of the way, I had to get the long list of school supplies ready for tomorrow. I am so bummed because I won't be able to walk in to the classroom with the kids. They instituted a new rule this year that parents must drop off the kids in the main entrance where they will be escorted to their rooms. I wanted to meet the teachers and take the mandatory photo for my scrapbook. I guess I will have to wait for BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT to meet them and then take the photo. :)
I have to go now. I promise to come back tomorrow to show you some picts.
Have a good night wherever in the world you are.
Hugs,
Kait
