Little Entomologist/Studio Ziska

Entomologist: a zoologist who studies insects;the scientific study of insects

Liam likes bugs - caterpillars, ladybugs, beetles - he likes them all. On this day, he found this beetle on our bay window sill, and began to observe it. After he tired of observing it, he set it free to return to “its family," but not before I took a few pictures! 2-28-2009

Toot /Cherry Blossom / Peta Boardman

I posted this layout in the galleries this morning and it was chosen for Gallery Standout at DST!

I have been a long time admirer of Peta Boardman and was thrilled when I found out that she was coming to Scrapbookgraphics. She has a classic and elegant design style that appeals to me. She also has a fabulous eye for matching colors and provides plenty of embellishment to please the most discerning scrapper. I especially like that one can mix and match her kits with ease.

Dandelions / My Mother's Garden / Birgit Kerr

Birgit Kerr just uploaded MY MOTHER'S GARDEN to her store yesterday. Isn't it gorgeous. It has a fabulous color scheme and the cutest elements ever!

The acrylic alpha is absolutely fabulous and a must have for your collection. I love that she included the alpha as a psd file that you can customize as you wish.

You can purchase the items separately, if you so wish. She's also has a fabulous quickpage album, it you are short on scrapping time.

After a week of non-stop rain, you guys were ready to hit the playground. We went on a long walk by the creek, all the way up to your favorite tree, then to the playground, swings and slide. May 12, 2009 Smithville Park

I love nautical/maritime kits so I was thrilled when I found My Little Sea Adventure in the store. Mystique used a beautiful color palette of blue, green and tan and included a lot of fun elements, such as waves, crabs, 3 types of fishes, shark, clouds, boats, lighthouse, foliage, bird silhouttes, palm trees and island. This kit is perfect for scrapping pictures of your kids in the pool, at the lake or at the beach.

BIrthday - Krabby Patties

Playing the "Stinging Jelly Fish, " a/k/a hot potato.
The "Krabby Patties" were a hit with the kids. And so simple to make, too.

Was Liam ever surprised when he realized he was getting a Wii. We need the balance board to get some exercise games to get him moving. It is not all fun and games.
Liam loved his Spongebob Squarepants cake and krabby patties. He couldn't wait to whack his Spongebob pinata. They also flipped sponges (patties) with a spatula onto a bucket full of water. Later, they threw wet sponges at each other. The slip and slide was tons of fun for them. They got wet until they were too cold to play.

5/8/2009 - Zoo trip. That darn rain finally stopped. It's been raining for over a week non-stop! Liam was really excited to go to the zoo. I was one of many class chaperones. Luckily, 12 parents went with their children which gave the chaperones an extra pair of eyes. As always, I forced myself to take some photos for posterity. Here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy!

Making Lemonade with our Lemons

Kaylie has yet to see a rainstorm that she doesn't like. She loves to go out to jump on the puddles.

The one day the weather got really hot, Kaylie found a way of refreshing herself.

We've been having a lot of rain as of late. Truth be told, I am sick of the rain, but I love the drops of water sliding down the leaves and flowers in the garden. Here are a few of my favorites.

More Flowers from my Garden

Getting Crafty! - Animal Unit Project

Liam's First grade class has been studying about animals and their habitats, all leading to a field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo.
Liam was supposed to pick an animal, create same using a box, and include 5 facts about it. He chose a Rockhopper Penguin, who, incidentally, likes to hop from rock to rock thus the name. He used a hot glue gun to cover the box with felt, construction and crepe paper. We tried very hard to keep it as close to real life as possible.
While I was helping Liam, Kaylie kept busy by making a creation of her own. She calls it "Sleepy Girl." I call it, "Creepy Girl." :) She drew the bed and made a blanket out of pink felt. She is very crafty.

My yellow/red tulips are glorious this year! And so are the dandelions. 4/19/2009
