This is my 4th page of an album I am making documenting all of our trips to the wild safari at Six Flags Great Adventure this summer.
Standing as high as 11.5 feet tall and weighing up to 14,000 pounds, African elephants are the largest of all land mammals. They have smaller heads than Indian elephants and large, fan-shaped ears to facilitate cooling of body heat. Their long trunk is used as a hand for activities such as eating, drinking and bathing.
Elephants often suck water up into their trunk and squirt it into the mouth to drink or toss backwards over their body. Their eyesight is poor, but they have an acute sense of smell and hearing.
