First Snowstorm of the Season

All bundled up ready to go out to play in the snow.

We didn't get a white Christmas, but did get a whole lot of snow the day after Christmas! It started snowing around 12:00 noon and was still snowing when I went to bed at 11:oo p.m. We got about 18 inches of snow.

I did these pages for a designer blog play day at Scrapbookgraphics.  The featured designer is Tangie Baxter.

Her store is full of quirky designs, as well as traditional.  I especially love her series of FIELD NOTES kit, of which this is the 3rd. The kit has a ton of papers and fabulous elements.  The kit is chuck full of real elements such as flower, strings, foliage, cones...
I made these 2 pages and I didn't even touch the surface!

I've been thinking a lot about how time seems to pass me by so quickly.  As I look back at my photos from 2007 and see how little the kids seem to look, I feel old.  I miss their sense of wonder and innocence.  Now that they are getting much older they are starting to loose the precious part of childhood where they still believe that everyone is good, that Santa is real and that miracles can come true.  I am betting that by next year, Liam will finally outgrow his belief in Santa. Sigh...

Anyway, I did these 2 pages about the kids putting out "magical" reindeer food for Santa's friends.

Meet Miss Daisy

As part of Kaylie’s school Thanksgiving project, she had to make a turkey out of a brown paper bag, a ribbon, feathers and newspapers. She named her DAISY. She got an Easter basket, filled it with grass and made it her home. She has to take Daisy everywhere she goes and keep a 5-day journal. The journal entries have to be written from Daisy’s perspective.

Meet Miss Daisy

I Love You / Live Today Tomorrow is Not Promised

My dear friend Christine sent this to me. It is very poignant, so I thought I'd share this reminder with you all:

One day a woman's husband died, and on that clear, cold  morning, in the warmth of their bedroom, the wife was struck with the pain of  learning that sometimes there isn't "anymore".

   

No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate  together, no more phone calls just to chat, no more "just one minute."

   

Sometimes, what we care about the most gets all used up and  goes away, never to return before we can say good-bye, or say "I love   you."

   

So while we have it, it's best we love it, care for it, fix  it when it's broken and heal it when it's sick.

   

This is true of old cars... And children with bad  report cards, and dogs with bad hips, and aging parents and grandparents We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it.

   

Some things we keep -- like a best friend who moved away or   a sister-in-law after divorce. There are just some things that make us happy,  no matter what.

   

Life is important, like people we know who are special.   And so, we keep them close!

 

I received this from someone who thought I was a 'keeper'!   Then I sent it to the people I think of in the same way... Now it's your turn   to send this to all those people who are "keepers" in your life,   including the person who sent it, if you feel that way. Suppose one morning   you never wake up, do all your friends know you love them?

 

Let every one of your friends know you love them. Even if   you think they don't love you back.  And just in case I'm gone tomorrow:

 I LOVE YOU!!!
