I Love School / School: Love It or Hate It

L has the potential to be a great student! He is very smart, and knowledge comes easy to him. BUT HE DOESN'T LIKE GOING TO SCHOOL.

K was apprehensive about starting 2nd grade. As it turned out, she needn’t have worried because she got Mrs. Rita Pelcak, who turned out to be a wonderful nurturing teacher. Sept. 4, 2008. 15481

Summer: Picking Strawberries

Liam’s Kindergarten class trip went to Johnston’s Corner Farm on a field trip. They rode on a wagon to the fields to pick produce. Upon their return from the fields, they ate their lunch, went to the petting zoo and came home with potted squash and beans ready to be planted in the garden. He also brought a bag full of radishes and strawberries. June 3rd, 2008

First Day of School!

The day that I'd been waiting for all summer finally arrived yesterday - the kid's first day of school! Kaylie looked forward with anticipation and trepidation her entrance into 4th grade; Liam, on the other hand, not so much. But I do have to admit that both of them got up promptly, ate their breakfast without much fuss and managed to get out of the house in a timely fashion.

Of course, I walked them to their classrooms, and took photos! I met their teachers, who appear to be very nice, took their photos, then left. You should have seen Kaylie, she was a social butterfly. She gave Mrs. Pelcak, her former 2nd grade teacher, a big hug.   We then walked to Mrs. Smith's classroom, Kaylie's former 3rd grade teacher, and gave her a hug, too. I then walked her to Ms. D'Adamo's 4th grade classroom, who quickly hugged her (she was Kaylie's 3rd grade math teacher), took their picture, then left.  As you can tell, Kaylie is a warm and caring child, well-loved by all who know her.

Liam said hello to Mrs. DeMenezes, his 1st grade teacher; and greeted Mrs. Johnson, his 2nd grade teacher, too. I quickly introduced myself to Ms. Bonomo, his 3rd grade teacher, and asked her to pose for a photo, too.  Both teachers were most gracious and allowed me to photograph them.

Here's a few photos of the kids on their first day back at school.

He looks adorable with his new haircut.
We looked high and low for a backpack, he finally settled for this one.

School Class Assignment

E=MC2  - Just in time for school @ FunkyPlayground.

I guess you can tell that I am gearing up for the kids to go to school soon.

In fact, I got the kids' classroom assignment notices in the mail yesterday.

And just in time, I am starting to notice so many cute kits to scrap those back to school photos.

Now that Liam is going into the 3rd grade and Kaylie is going into 4th grade, things are starting to change. I think that this will be the last year that I will be able to take photos of the teachers and kids together. ;-) I can't wait to try out some of the ideas for back to school photos by Angie.  9819
