This is the view as seen from the left side of our house. As you can see, everything is blanketed in snow.

The view across the street. The snowflakes are swirling all around me. It is amazingly beautiful to be in the middle of the flurries.

Our next door neighbor's property. The pine tree branches are laden with snow. It rather like this vintage look.

Kaylie loves to play in the snow a lot! Here she dragging the shovel as she heads towards the house to warm up.

Sure, Mom, I will help shovel the snow. Where do you want me to put it?

I know that this photo looks amost washed out, but I like the sunflare streaming in from the trees and onto her.

Dear husband cleaning out the 2 car garage. Hang in there, you only have 1 side of the 2-car garage to go. Oh, and make sure you clean it good, we really want the municipality plow to have a clear driveway so they can dump all of the snow they clear off of the street back onto our property!

Poor birds...it is so windy and snowy that they can't get the seeds out of the feeder.

Update: More Snow...

More snow...

Just what we want to hear: we are getting anywhere from 12 to 18 more inches of snow. The streets aren't even clear of snow yet... Schools will be closed tomorrow in anticipation of the storm and the Mayor has issued a warning and posted signs that cars must be parked off-street.

Yesterday, I took Kay to the pediatric endocrinologist for a follow up due to CONSTITUTIONAL GROWTH DELAY concerns, for which I took her to the doctor back in August of 2009.

The doctor says that she has not grown much since her last visit to him...in fact, less than an inch. She did gain weight, about 7 pounds, and is now 70 pounds. I addressed with the doctor my concern that she is undergoing PRECOCIOUS PUBERTY due to chest and axillary hair growth. Imagine my surprise when he replied that while she is only 9, and is a year behind in growth, she is not undergoing precious puberty, but IS merely starting puberty. According to him, it is not uncommon for girls to start developing as early as 8 years old. She'll have to go back in 6 months for a follow-up. To me, it still seems that 9 is too young to be burdened with breasts. I still have to take her for her yearly physical at the end of the month, so I'll have to see what her pediatrician recommends. I guess I was lucky since I didn't start developing until I turned 12 years old. I suppose I will have to start thinking about the "menses talk." It sucks being a girl - like totally! 7014

Greyhouse Manor Winter Ball

This is my 2-page spread that I made with Lorie's Greymouse Manor Winter Ball collection. It is my ode to Angelina Ballerina.

The series featured actress Finty Williams as the voice of Angelina, and her mother Judi Dench as Miss Lilly. The series aired on PBS in the United States and can currently be seen on Nick Jr. in the UK and PBS Kids Sprout in the US. The cast of Angelina Ballerina:

• Angelina Mouseling is a little mouse who loves to dance and dreams of becoming a famous ballerina. Voiced by Finty Williams. She often wears a pink leotard, pink tutu, pink hair ribbon, and pink ballet slippers.
• William Longtail is one of two boys (the other is Angelina's cousin Henry) in Miss Lilly's ballet class. He is in love with Angelina. Voiced by Keith Wickham.
• Alice Nimbletoes is Angelina's best friend, who is very skilled at gymnastics. Voiced by Jo Wyatt. She often wears a green leotard, tutu, hair ribbon, and ballet slippers.
• Miss Lilly is Angelina's ballet teacher. She grew up in Dachovia, a far-away land. Voiced by Judi Dench.
• Penelope and Priscilla Pinkpaws are twin sisters who tease and belittle nearly everyone, sometimes including each other. They are particularly jealous of Angelina for her dancing ability. They also have a new baby brother. Voiced by Jonell Elliott and Jo Wyatt. Priscilla wears blue leotards, tutus, and pointe shoes but wears a purple hair ribbon, and Penelope wears a purple leotard, tutu, and ballet slippers, but wears a blue hair ribbon.
• Sammy Watts is an older mouse in Angelina's school, who often causes trouble for William and Angelina particularly but has a heart of gold. Voiced by Jo Wyatt.
• Mr. Maurice Mouseling is Angelina's father and the proprietor of the Mouseland Gazette. Voiced by Keith Wickham.
• Mrs. Mouseling is Angelina's mother. Voiced by Jonell Elliott.
• Polly Mouseling is the second child and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mouseling, little sister of Angelina, and second cousin of Henry.
• Grandma and Grandpa are Angelina's grandparents. Voiced by Keith Wickham and Adrienne Posta.
• Uncle Louis is Mr. Mouseling's brother, Angelina's uncle and Henry's father. Voiced by Rob Rackstraw.
• Henry is Angelina's little cousin. Voiced by Jo Wyatt.
• Mrs Hodgepodge is Angelina's next-door neighbour. She always seems grumpy and is viewed with fear by most of the Chipping Cheddar mouselings, but occasionally she helps the mouselings often when they least expect it. Voiced by Mellissa Greenspann (Season 1). Usually, Finty Williams (Season 2-until the show cancelled).
• Doctor Tuttle is the doctor in the town of Chipping Cheddar. Voiced by Keith Wickham.
• Mr. Operatski is an old friend of Miss Lilly's. Angelina is convinced wrongly, as it turns out that he hates mouselings. He has a moustache and a medium-pitched Russian accent. Voied by Derek Jacobi.
• Queen Seraphina is a childhood friend of Miss Lilly's, who is now the Queen of Mouseland.She might had been inspired by the late Princess Diana.
• Princess Valentine is the daughter of Queen Seraphina.
• Anya is a mouseling who comes to Chipping Cheddar as part of a migrant family working through the harvest season. She is teased by the Pinkpaws twins, and befriended by Angelina. She later joins Miss Lilly's ballet class.

This is Lorie Davison's latest kit...isn't it fabulous? It instantly reminded me of times I spent with Kaylie watching ANGELINA BALLERINA on PBS. Kaylie loved watching Angelina and Alice doing their pirouttes, while little Henry followed them around.

GREYHOUSE MANOR WINTER BALL is chuck full of fabulous elements and wonderful winter scenery. I am always inspired by Lorie's designs. She is a gifted artist, as well as a sweet, kind and caring person.

Winter is hitting us hard this year. This is the 2nd thunderstorm that has left us with 2 feet of snow, not counting the other plain snow days that have only left behind a few inches of snow. Thank God for our next door neighbor, George, who has helped us out by cleaning the sidewalk and driveway with his electric snowblower. Otherwise, we'd be up the creek without a paddle by having to shovel snow by hand.

One thing is for sure, my girl looooooooves snow. She can't wait to go out there and play. She jumps in it, she dives, she rolls in it, you name it, she does it. Liam, on the other hand, has to be coaxed out of the house. He wore 2 shirts and 2 pants, plus a hooded sweatshirt and his jacket. I told him that if he wore anything else, I'd have to roll him out of the house as he wouldn't be able to walk with all of the clothing. :)

I have lots of photos, but will only show you a few of them.

I'll be taking Kay later on to the endocrinologist. I can't wait to hear what he has to tell me regarding her growth. She has gained weight and is maturing in other ways...

Hello World,
It has been snowing since 9 p.m. last night. We've had 19 hours of straight snow. It looks like we have about 2 feet of snow...the same as last time.
Will take a few pictures to show you. Poor birds are starving and looking for food.
At least, we haven't lost the electricity like they did in Atlantic City.

SBG Blog Playday - Nature Theme: Backyard Birds

As you may or may not know, I love to watch the birds in my backyard, while eating my breakfast in the dining room. I have a perfect view of the trees in the yard, and its visitors.

The Cardinal is very skittish and flies away instantly the minute it senses movement. The Finch doesn't really care too much about being observed within inches as long as I keep behind the crystal door. The woodpecker is oblivious of observers as it is too busy hopping from one branch to the next searching for bugs or a good spot to peck.

Art Journal Caravan, Wk. 4: Let Loose with Colors

For week 4, one of the prompts was to "let loose with colors," which prompt I took to heart. I find myself reaching for bold colors in order to keep the winter blues away. Orange and Royal blue are my most favorite color combination. The sight of them makes me happy and uplifts my mood.

I extracted, I burnt, I masked, I recolored, I blended modes, I erased, I ran filters...I did so many things I don't think I can replicate this ever again.

(My pc did crash 2 times because of storms in our area...so this is my 3rd attempt.)

I am sorry that I didn't reply to you sooner, but I am very forgetful. If you don't believe me, ask my husband. :) Sometimes I think that I'd loose my head if it weren't attached.

I am sorry to hear that your cancer treament is taking a toll on you. I so wish it weren't so.

I read your post the other day and am in love with the gingerbread house that you decorated. The photos are wonderful! Thank you for sharing it with the world.

I've been thinking about you. Mom's death anniversary is next month. I need to get a scanner to scan photos of her to send to you. My scanner is very grainy so I don't want to spend time scanning photos that will be of little use to you.

I love how Liam was so engrossed in reading his book that he was oblivious to everything else. I wanted to convey that sense in my page thus the reason I used a transparency, yet kept his hands and book quite visible. I wanted it to look as if the imaginary world was emerging from his readings...and he'd be looking down at it.

Are any of you doing the photo a day project, a/k/a P365?

I will attempt to do it again this year and hopefully nothing will happen to deter me along the way. Lucky for me, I have a good idea of what it entails and have a better grasp of what it takes to get it done.

One thing I learned is that taking the photo is half the battle. The other half is editing it, reducing it for the blog, journaling it and posting it. Do it each day so you have your journaling fresh in your head and the task doesn't seem as daunting.

Having the right supplies also helps to speed along the process. These are some of the supplies that I will be using to help keep me on track with the project. Hillary Hildelberg also has templates for the months of January, Feb., March and April.
