Disney Vacation (Disney LO #11)

All summer long I had been hard at work planning our trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Day in and day out you saw me sitting at the computer researching and compiling information about the attractions, entertainment, hotels, and restaurants. I told you that I was doing this research as a favor to Maria because she was going to Disney World and didn’t have time to do her own research, which was partially true.

I desperately wanted to tell you, but decided against it because you would be too wound up all summer long, and wouldn’t be able to sleep or eat as the vacation date grew closer.

I had to sneak around to get things done without rousing your suspicion, but it worked!

You were both incredulous when, an hour before we had to leave for the airport, we told you that you were both going with me on a DISNEY VACATION! Liam had a huge grin on his face; Kaylie was really emotional so she cried.

Tower of Terror (Disney Layouts 7, 8 and 9

*The Twighlight Zone  Ghosts at the Tower of Terror

Text along pathway leading to the elevator entrance where ghosts are waiting to hunt you: "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Walt Disney World, Orlando. This is a terrific, scary ride based on a 1939 incident where 5 people were transported into the Twilight Zone when the elevator that they were riding was hit by lightning. These are the ghosts that inhabit it now. Sept.15-Sept. 20, 2010."

**Tower of Terror: Facing Your Fear

This is a picture from Disney's Hollywood Studios The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction. On the way up the tower, the elevator stops at one of the floors and the doors open to reveal a corridor populated by the ghostly occupants from 1939 in the above photo, who then disappear.
The corridor fades to a starlit night sky, except the window at the end of the corridor. The window then morphs into a more ghostly black-and-white version and shatters like in the opening segment of each episode.

Kaylie, Emanuel and I went on this attraction, while Liam and Elizabeth stayed behind. Kaylie and Emanuel were eager to ride it until we boarded the elevator, the room blacked out and the twilight zone theme started playing on the overhead TV. As we walked towards the entrance to the elevator/ride, Emanuel kept saying that he was scared and wanted to back out, but I wouldn’t let him. Every time he saw an exit sign his eyes would light up After the ride was over, Emanuel claimed that he hadn’t been scared. Kaylie, on the other hand, was in tears. She absolutely hated the drops!

Delightfully Frightful
**Here we are in front of the Hollywood Tower of Terror. We hear that it is a thrilling and scary ride. Kaylie, Emanuel and I want to ride it, but Liam and Elizabeth do not. Apparently, Liam is not keen on the idea of getting inside a “malfunctioning” elevator or being in the presence of ghosts.

Trip to Six Flags Great Adventure

Mr. Six

The kid and I went to Six Flags Great Adventure yesterday. It was a sunny, breezy day, and we were hoping that it wouldn't be too crowded like the last few times we've been there.

It WAS crowded, but we managed to go on Congo Rapids 2 consecutive times without much wait.  By the second trip we were all drenched!  There's nothing worse than walking around with wet clothing and wet socks/shoes.

We then walked to the other side of the park so the kids could ride The Runaway Train. On the way there, we stopped so I could have a photo taken with the kids.  (I know, wonders never cease!) Afterward, we took the skyline which took us back to the park where they kids rode the Jolly Roger and the Buccaneer.

We got in line at 3:00 p.m. to watch the dolphins and  sea lion show in Fort Independence at 3:30 p.m. Our diligence paid off as the kids were able to score front seat rows. They wanted to be splashed by the dolphins - me, not so much, so I sat on the 5th row.  The show was pretty much a bust.  They had "technical difficulties" so we couldn't hear a thing! Last year's show, "Shiver Me Timbers," was really good so I have no idea why they would change it.

Another thing I've noticed is that there are less characters in the park posing for photos with the guests. We managed to find Mr. Six and had a picture taken with him. Of course, Liam didn't want his photo taken...

We spend about 6 hours at the park and dined at our favorite pizza shop in town. This is probably our last trip to Six Flags until October, when Fright Fest begins.  The kids go back to school full time on September 7th.  I am ready, but they aren't! :)10009

Bugs Bunny Airplanes / Boy's Word by Manuela Zimmerman

The Bugs Bunny airplane ride in Bugs Bunny Land at Six Flags Great Adventure is a favorite of Liam. Unfortunately, he is growing and pretty soon will be too tall to continue riding it. June 6, 2009.

Father's Day/Great Adventure - Trip 2

Sunset I saw when I got home. A perfect ending.
Mr. Six sure likes to shake his booty!
This parachute is 250 feet high.

Kaylie and Daddy loved riding the parachute. They rode it twice, but couldn't convince Liam to join them. :)
Teacups.
Yikes! That's me! DH didn't give me a chance to tuck in my tummy or anything!
The kids rode a chicken while at the carousel. Riding a horse is so passe! When I saw this chicken, I thought of Michelle, the chicken lady.
Porky Pig, Petunia and KaylieLiam absolutely loooooved Blackbeards Lost Treasure Train. He proclaimed it to be the best ride ever! I thought he hated it by his expression, but I was wrong.
Daddy and kids rode the caboose.
Kaylie and Daddy riding the Buccaneer.
Kaylie and Liam riding the Jolly Roger.
Kaylie and I rode Skull Mountain.
Liam cooling off.
Granny's house.

Bugs Bunny Fun Factory
I spy...a groundhog. It is spying my funnel cake.
Funnel-eating groundhog.
Funnel-eating groundhog...and you thought I was kidding!?
Gotham City
Green Lantern
Do you remember Linda Carter as Wonderwoman? I loved the show and watched it faithfully. I especially like the theme song. :) Don't know what I am talking about, listen to it HERE.
Runaway Mine Train
Snake in the grass...sunbathing. There were actually 3 of them.
Drum time!
Tree house.
First time riding the elephants.
Turtle topiary.

Warning: Photo intensive post.

On Father's Day, Daddy came to Great Adventure with us! The kids loved having him there as they were able to go on many rides that we usually can't ride together due to motion sickness and I am afraid of heights, too.
I took tons of photos, but I won't bore you with pedestrian shots. :)
We took the kids to the museum and on a tour of the N.J. State House today, which I will post for you tomorrow.
