Halloween 2010 - Kaylie

My wholesome daughter wanted to be a skeleton bride this year. She loves the makeup and gore.

Costumes: 2005-2010

My little man certainly has his own ideas for what he chooses as his Halloween costume. He seems to be drawn to the more honorable professions such as doctor, fireman, police officers, etc. though this year he kept it lighthearted and chose to be Mario, thus bucking his 4-year trend. Tower of Terror (Disney Layouts 7, 8 and 9

*The Twighlight Zone  Ghosts at the Tower of Terror

Text along pathway leading to the elevator entrance where ghosts are waiting to hunt you: "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Walt Disney World, Orlando. This is a terrific, scary ride based on a 1939 incident where 5 people were transported into the Twilight Zone when the elevator that they were riding was hit by lightning. These are the ghosts that inhabit it now. Sept.15-Sept. 20, 2010."

**Tower of Terror: Facing Your Fear

This is a picture from Disney's Hollywood Studios The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction. On the way up the tower, the elevator stops at one of the floors and the doors open to reveal a corridor populated by the ghostly occupants from 1939 in the above photo, who then disappear.
The corridor fades to a starlit night sky, except the window at the end of the corridor. The window then morphs into a more ghostly black-and-white version and shatters like in the opening segment of each episode.

Kaylie, Emanuel and I went on this attraction, while Liam and Elizabeth stayed behind. Kaylie and Emanuel were eager to ride it until we boarded the elevator, the room blacked out and the twilight zone theme started playing on the overhead TV. As we walked towards the entrance to the elevator/ride, Emanuel kept saying that he was scared and wanted to back out, but I wouldn’t let him. Every time he saw an exit sign his eyes would light up After the ride was over, Emanuel claimed that he hadn’t been scared. Kaylie, on the other hand, was in tears. She absolutely hated the drops!

Delightfully Frightful
**Here we are in front of the Hollywood Tower of Terror. We hear that it is a thrilling and scary ride. Kaylie, Emanuel and I want to ride it, but Liam and Elizabeth do not. Apparently, Liam is not keen on the idea of getting inside a “malfunctioning” elevator or being in the presence of ghosts.

Awakening, a dramatic procession of the walking dead leading to the resurrection of Dr. Fright and the Deadman’s party.

When the clock strikes 6 p.m., the sun goes down and the ghouls come out. We watched as the park transformed from "thrills by day" to "chills by night" with The Awakening, a dramatic procession of the walking dead, a Thriller performance and the resurrection of Dr. Fright.

This guy was so good! He was my favorite! October 25, 2009

Officer Liam / Hero of the Night / Halloween

Liam has a fixation with police and military officers. Last year he was a S.W.A.T. team member, so this year he changed it up a little by dressing up as a police officer. He looked good! October 2009

Halloween Photos

This is the lake in its full glory. The whole lake had a golden glow about it. The colors were so vibrant. I didn't do a thing to this photo. This is straight out of the camera.

Drama Queen.

We went out for about 1 hour 30 minutes. We went to 40 houses more or less. There was a curfew this year. Kids had to be accompanied by an adult past 8pm. We had a few kids stop by the house this year. We have a ton of candy left over! Want some?

Kaylie chose to be a gothic vampiress this year. She's outgrown the princess stage. She desperately wanted the face makeup and fake blood. She got it. Except the blood made her itchy. Boy, did she work her costume. She posed for photos non-stop, too.

Liam was a S.W.A.T. officer. He loved his handcuffs. All he had to say was, "Give the candy or I'll place you under arrest," but he wouldn't do it. :)

Good News, Halloween Treat Bags, Mismatch Day & Freebies

Hamming it up for the camera!

Hello Friends,

What do you think of the new song on my blog? It is titled "The Seeds of Love" by one of my most favorite singers: LOREENA McKENNIT. You will either love her to pieces or hate her. I love her; my husband hates her music. What does he know anyway? :) Lie to me please! Do tell me you love her, too.

GOOD NEWS: I went to the doctor last week for my diabetes treatment because my glucose levels are very high. The good news is that I have been on several medications for a week now and my glucose level this morning was 132! Obviously, I wish I didn't have to take medications to bring it down but at this point I am happy that it can be controled. Most people don't know that they have Diabetes. I have to be vigilant because I had Gestational Diabetes when I was pregnant with Liam. My mother (God bless her soul and may she rest in peace, Amen!) had diabetes. Her mother before her had it, too. So it stands to reason that I inherited it. I am hoping that with a strict diet and exercise, I will be able to cut down on the medications. But until that day, I will shut up and put up with the 3 medications. Evelyn, if you are reading this, be sure to get your doctor to test you. I hope to God that you don't have it or get it, but one can never be too complacent.

TREAT BAGS: I made the cutest treat popcorn treat bags for Kaylie's class. I used Lorie Davison's EEKY FREAKY Collection at Scrapbook-Graphics. The dangling spider is F A B U L O U S!

MISMATCH DAY: Yesterday was Mismatch Day in Kaylie's and Liam's school. It is part of their Spirit Week/Say No To Drugs Week. Liam wanted no part of it. He didn't want to wear mismatched clothes. Kaylie, on the other hand, was super excited about it. She wore a yellow shirt with bright orange flowers and a white/blue/gree patterned skort. Her favorite part was picking the tights. I had recently bought her a pink hose with multiple stripes with red, orange, hot pink, green, white, blue and black colors. Her hair bands were white and blue and her sneakers grey, white and pink. Her final accessory was a pair of hot pink glasses. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure. Scrapbook page to follow in the next day or two.

FREEBIES:
Andrea has a "witchy" template just for you.
Bethany has a Sweet Tooth wordart, perfect for those Halloween pictures you will be taking today.
Christina Renee has a fabulous SHADOW DANCE sampler on her blog.
Flerg's has a sampler waiting for you. Knock on the door to get your treat. If you stop long enough to read, you'll find another link to another blog where you can get another piece.
Franziska has a gift for you. Knock on her door to receive it. :)
Lettering Delights has a super cute free alpha that you can pick up HERE.
Kristin has a Halloween mini kit sure to please you. Check out her sale while there.
Schaarka has a calendar available on her blog.
I have to go now to take the kids to school. I have a doctor's appt. at 10 and have to go to school today to help out in Liam's class. See you later on tonight!

Spooky

The moment one enters Six Flags Great Adventure, one is taken aback by the ghoulish sight of skeletons, bones, coffins and blood-spewing water fountain. There are skeletons hanging onto stones, hanging on to fences, some still wearing clothes and some digging their way out of graves.

As the day wears on, the park becomes frightful. The mist and smoke envelop some areas, especially the water fountain by the Main Street; and zombies rise to walk among the living. We heard a loud sound, something scraping the ground...because there was mist all over, we couldn’t see who was making the noise. As the mist wore off, we saw it. It was a blodied zombie dragging a shovel. Boy, were the kids scared! I immediately took them home. Luckily, they didn’t have nightmares that night.

I left the house at 11:00 and didn't return until 7:30 p.m.
Today is the beginning of Fright Fest at Great Adventure. I bought the Halloween costumes for the kids yesterday, so they were rearing to wear them. I really didn't want them to wear them, but I told them to go ask their father; if he said yes, then they could wear it. Wouldn't you know, he said yes!
I got Kaylie a gothic vampiress costume, but looks too cute to spook anyone. I got Liam a S.W.A.T. costume which he absolute loved. It has a hardhat, a vest to hold his flashlight, badge, handcuffs, grenade and binoculars. They were the hit of the show. They were the only kids wearing costumes and people really noticed them. Liam was a big hit with all the boys and men. He loved the glances and smiles by all the girls and women. The little kids all loved his costumes and cool gadgets. Liam felt special.
We attended a creepy animals show that was education and soooo funny. I got a little video that I will post on my blog later. :)
We saw the Shiver Me Flippers seal and dolphin show again. You know we have been there plenty of times as Liam can recite the spiel by heart.
We went trick or treating, which was a hit with all the little kids.
At around 6pm the park converted into a hunted playground. There was fire, smoke, and a dancing zombies musical sequence that we didn't get to see because of the thousands of peope gathered to view the show.
The water fountain was converted into a dead man zone with red blood spewing from the fountain and skeletons about everywhere. At about 6:15 the smoke machines went into full gear and enveloped the area. The kids were quite taken with all the smoke and decorations.
They want to go back next week. I am not so sure I can take another Great Adventure trip. DH didn't want to go, I wonder why. :) 1759

I got lots of more picts., but am too tired. If I can't do it tomorrow, then on Monday.
