memories of Mom/Pant Suit/Stitched with Love

My earliest recollection of mom is of her working in a brassiere factory in Mayaguez. All through her life she worked in different factories making all sorts of garments. Back in 1985 I even worked right along with her at Wags Mfgt. in a sport jackets company. Her last commercial job was at the Parachute co. in Trenton, where she had the accident that crushed her finger.

Although Mom had always loved to sew, I didn't inherit this particular talent from her. In high school, I remember sewing a simple dress for my Home Economics class, but that was the extent of my interest. As I grew older, I developed a love for cross stich, which Mom also picked up.It wasn't until many years later, when Kaylie came along, that I decided to try sewing. I saw a really cute pant suit pattern at the store that I wanted to try. I picked a light green pattern with white daisies that screamed spring to me. I added daisy buttons, white scallop heart trim around the pockets and bee decals. She loved wearing it and looked totally adorable. Dec. 2004/Christmas.

Memories of Happier Times (Attn: Evelyn)

My happiest days of childhood were spent at my grandparent's house. Abuelita Julia and Abuelito Miguel were always there to greet us from school until Mami came from work to pick us up. They've been gone for over 25 years, but I still miss them so.

(If you are wondering which one I am, I am the one with the man, my grandfather. The other picture depicts my younger siblings, Tito and Evelyn with my grandmother. My youngest brother is missing from this picture.)

Abuela Maria / Rooted in the Past / Birgit Kerr

Birgit Kerr has a new genealogy collection that is absolutely fabulous. This kit has just about everything that you would want or need to complete a book. It has an alpha, definitions, charts, clipping masks, a paper pack with 14 12x12 richly textured ans subtly patterned papers and a pack of papers 24x12 to make scrapping double-pages a breeze!
The double pages come in handy for the pie chart type of family trees that go back many generations!

This is my paternal grandmother, Maria Villanueva. I recall seeing her once when I was a young child. On her deathbed she asked to see us but Mom received the message too late. (I don't even know when this photo was taken; she died at age 47)

A Walk by the Lake

My view of the lake.

Proof and copy right action by Wendyzine Scraps @ SBG.

As I was walking along the lake, there were these clusters of pods with seedlings flying all about. I was captivated by their gentle and quiet beauty.

Today I had an appointment with the Diabetes doctor. My sugars were very high this morning. He did an ekg, gave me 4 prescriptions and 2 shots. I go back for further testing within 1 week and to see him in 3 weeks. My prescriptions cost me $120.00 and that is just my copay.

White Tailed Gnu

I am so jazzed up about this album that I am already on my 7th page on my travel album to the safari this summer. I chose Rough to the Touch because it has the most wonderful textures and old world feel that I was looking for. I want my pages to look different from each other yet have a cohesive look. To that end, I use the litho/sketch look, naturalistic element, alpha and vintage frames to tie it all together. The truth is that though I am the one designing the pages, they are so different than what I usually do that sometimes I feel like I am looking at someone's page. How cool is that? If I say so myself. :)

The White Tailed Gnu can no longer be found in the wild. Once down to only 100, they now number over 4,000 throughout protected reserves. They have a deep brown coat, stiff mane and a long light colored tail that touches the ground.
*Smallest of the gnu family at 3½ feet tall
*Both males and females carry horns
*Live in large herds near water
